Every few years I change blogging platform, some times I was forced (like when Posterous was acquired by Twitter), other times I just got bored of the current stack.

I always was intrigued with static blogs, in fact I find it a waste of resources to have a web server running to publish your content dinamically when it is not changing that often.

I am now trying to use Jekyll version 3, currently in beta, that supports incremental builds and has (experimental) support collections, with Amazon S3 to host the content and Amazon CloudFront to optimize content distribution.

Since I like to share pictures on my blog, I have to build a plugin for galleries, using Masonry to display thumbnails and Photoswipe for a full screen view.
